Additional information

Skavlan is a Norwegian-Swedish television talk show hosted by Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan. It premièred in Sweden on Sveriges Television (SVT) in January 2009 and the first guests to appear on the show were former Prime Minister of Sweden Göran Persson and his wife Anitra Steen. On 8 May 2009, it was announced that Skavlan had been renewed for a second season. It was also announced that the show would no longer only be produced by SVT in Sweden; Skavlan would now be partly produced in Norway by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). The first twelve episodes of Skavlan's second season were produced by SVT in Sweden, and the remaining twelve by NRK in Norway.

All four ABBA members have been guests on the show (individually!).

Björn was a guest in early January 2016 on the first show of the 15th season of Skavlan, where he revealed that he and Benny had ideas for a new musical and he was looking forward to Mamma Mia! The Party which would open in less than a fortnight on Wednesday 20 January 2016.  He said that some other ABBA members had said "yes" to the invitation to the première but he didn't say who and how many.

He also discussed death - that he thought about it and wanted to avoid the pain of illness and dying that he had witnessed with his own parents and parents-in-law and was in favour of euthanasia.

He also explained that he was part of the programme for Swedish people to get to know new immigrants in Sweden and he regularly meets with a guy from Palestine in his 60s and they go to lunch and eat and talk together.  He said that he felt shame, as with many other Swedish people, about the government's decision to close the borders but understood why they thought that might be necessary.

He explained his attititude to religion and other ideologies and that he wanted to be free to comment and critisize them.

When asked about the most personal lyrics he had written, he selected Slipping Through My Fingers and Our Last Summer.

The other guests on the show were

  1. Sylvi Listhaug (FRP) (Norway's newly-appointed Immigration and Integration Minister)
  2. Marit Strømøy, (boatswoman who was the first woman in the world to win a Formula 1 race in a boat)
  3. Joel Alme (artist).
