Wetten, dass..? = Wanna bet, that..?
Wetten, dass..? was a German-language entertainment television show. It was the most successful Saturday television show in Europe. Its format was the basis for the British show You Bet! and the US-American show Wanna Bet?. It's a show where people bet strange things like: "I bet I can park a car on four glasses and they won't break!" or "I bet that I can blow ou 100 candles in just 30 seconds!" and so on. The show was very popular in Germany and across Europe and there were always big superstars on the programme.
The shows were broadcast live six to eight times a year from different cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. There were also seven open-air summer shows, broadcast from Amphitheatre Xanten, Plaça de Toros de Palma de Mallorca, Disneyland Paris, Waldbühne Berlin, and Aspendos Roman Theatre. Each of the shows, which were shown without commercial interruption, were usually scheduled to last for about two hours, but it was not uncommon for a show to run as much as 45 minutes longer.
In November 2002, Björn was a guest on the show. It started with a medley from Mamma Mia!, including a part of the intro, I Have A Dream, Money, Money, Money, Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen. These songs were perfomed in English even though the German production was all in German!
Björn (and other guest, the gorgeous Karl Lagerfeld) were interviewed by Thomas Gottshalk. Björn would sometimes speak in English, sometimes in German. Björn and Tommy have met a couple of times over the years starting with Thommy's Pop-Show in 1982, Na, sowas! Extra in 1984 and Na, sowas! in 1986.
