Die aktuelle Schaubude was Germany's take on the American Today Show and was a weekly German TV show consisting of a mix of music, talk, information and entertainment. The programme started broadcasting from north German station NDR station (Norddeutscher Rundfunk) on 7 December 1957, the oldest regular programme on German TV and was shown weekly until 19 December 2009.
Waterloo was performed surrounded by little children and introduced by Marie-Louise Steinbauer who was the host between 1965 and 1976. This happened while their Top of The Pops performance was being aired ithe UK.

The station that originally broadcast the programme on Saturday 13 April 1974, NDR Fernsehen, was ARD’s regional television channel targeting northern Germany. The performance of Waterloo was also shown on 30 November 2007 in a special made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show on NDR (N3) entitled Schlager, Stars & gute Laune.
