Frida and Björn were both interviewed briefly in advance of the touring production of Mamma Mia! which premièred in Dublin.  It was shown on Ireland AM.

Frida said she'd been to Ireland before - in 1976 when ABBA played a concert there! (Ooops!).

Sinead Lynch: Last night saw the Irish gala opening of the world’s No. 1 musical show and even the President was there with all her entourage. Mamma Mia! combines the timeless songs of ABBA with a feel-good entertaining story. But two people who were especially excited about seeing the show had crowds out to meet them:

Frida: Yes I am very much. I have not been in Dublin since ‘76 when we had a concert here with ABBA so it’s quite a long time ago.

SL: Will you feel sad tonight hearing any songs or is it all good memories?

Frida: No, no, not sad at all. I’ve seen the show so many times It’s just good memories. It’s a lot of fun watching it actually.

Björn Ulvaeus: Very excited because for once I have not seen this cast at all – not in audition, not in rehearsal, so it’s going to be very exciting.

SL: Why do you think Mamma Mia! is such a hit with people? What do you feel makes it?

Björn: I feel that the timing was right for something uplifting and funny whereas a lot musicals had been quite sombre during the 80s and this one, as you’ll experience, people come out with a smile. It’s a fun night out.
