Melodifestival 1975 was the selection for the 16th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. The host was Karin Falck.
The running order of the show:
All four ABBA members can be seen (very, very briefly!) on the back row of the audience during Björn Skif's performance of Michelangelo. Their outline is unmistakable. Benny and Frida were sitting in the row behind Agnetha and Björn (who was wearing a distinctive scarf that hung down his front his front. You can see him more clearly during Lasse Berghagen's performance of his winning song.
Frida and Björn can be seen on the right-hand of the screen here during Ann-Christine Bärnsten's performance.
Benny, Björn and Stig were there as song-writers of Bang en Boomerang performed by Svenne and Lotta.
The song was originally written for them by Benny & Björn and then re-recorded by ABBA after Svenne & Lotta finished 3rd in Melodifestival (they appeared with the Swedish version Bang en Boomerang but have also recorded the song in English).
The filming date was confirmed by Görel's diary from 1975 as seen in the leaflet supplied in ABBA - The Backstage Stories by Carl Magnus Palm and Ingmarie Halling.
This clip as been officially released on the Melodifestivalen - The Favorites DVD (Melodifestivalen 50 År - Vinnarna & Favoriter) The programme is available via the SVT Open Archive (although unfortnately not viewable in the UK or maybe even outside Sweden)
