BBC Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over £600 million for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. One of the highlights is an annual telethon, held in November and televised on BBC One and BBC Two from 19:30 pm until 02:30. "Pudsey Bear" is BBC Children in Need's mascot, whilst Sir Terry Wogan was its long-standing host.
Over the years there have been an increasing amount of events to raise money throughout the year - and not just on the one telethon night in November.
Children in Need Rocks 2013 was a two-part charity music concert held at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo in London, England, on 12 and 13 November 2013. The concert was organised by Take That singer-songwriter Gary Barlow as one of a series of events to raise money for BBC Children in Need 2013. It was the third Children in Need Rocks concert organised by Gary Barlow, after Children in Need Rocks the Royal Albert Hall in 2009 and Children in Need Rocks Manchester in 2011.
After 25 years in front of a large audience (Wogan in 1988), Agnetha unbelievably made a surprise appearance duetting with Gary Barlow for I Should've Followed You Home at the Children in Need Rocks Concert. She was introduced by programme hosts Chris Evans and Ferne Cotton before Gary teased who he was about to duet with. They appear to have performed LIVE.
Agnetha had arrived in London earlier in the day and then rehearsed with Gary during the afternoon. To fly AND perform in front of a live audience on the same day must have been an incredible personal achievement for her.
Gary Barlow seemed to be able to get the biggest names to appear at this and his other concerts. Two concerts were organised, this one and one on Wednesday 13 November.
