Additional information

Allsång på Skansen = Sing-along at Skansen

Allsång på Skansen is a Swedish show held at Skansen, Stockholm, every summer on Tuesdays between 8pm and 9pm. The audience is supposed to sing-along with musical guests to well-known Swedish songs. The show started in 1935 on a small scale; about 50 people in the audience. Today about 10,000–25,500 people come to each performance. Since 3 August 1979 the show has been broadcast by Sveriges Television. Initially the show had about 300,000 viewers. When Lasse Berghagen took over as host, the ratings increased to about 2 million viewers. In 2003, Allsång på Skansen was the first SVT programme that was broadcast with 5.1 multichannel sound. In 2007, it became one of the first Swedish live programmes broadcast in high-definition television.

Benny Anderssons Orkester (BAO!) were guests on this edition, hosted by Anders Lundin, and performed:

  1. Du är min man
  2. Brief interview with Benny and Helen Sjöholm by Anders Lundin
  3. Sing-a-long: Augustin (which was Sweden’s entry in the 1959 Eurovision Song Contest), led by Helen and with BAO! providing backing.
  4. Sommaren är här (The Summer Is Here)
  5. Brief interview with Tommy Körberg by Anders Lundin.
  6. Sing-a-long: Säg det i toner, led by Tommy and with BAO! providing backing.

For the lucky audiences at Allsång på Skansen shows, some of the performers usually stayed behind and gave a bit of a concert. According to a couple of clips on YouTube, BAO! played a very lively Glasgow Boogie and Cadillac after the main show stopped broadcasting. These two clips are added to the VIDEO section - but they are private footage and were not broadcast on TV.  Worth seeing though!
