A report on ABBA's press conference for this Australian current affairs show. There must have been more than one press conference as they enter the stage from the left on this one, yet in ABBA - The Movie they enter from the right. In this clip, Frida is the first on stage, while in ABBA - The Movie Björn entered first.
There were 350 press representatives welcomed to the 45-minute press conference. In the introduction, they were told that ABBA had performed 11 concerts in 10 days and expected to play to some 140,000 people, probably the biggest turn-out for a single performer Australia had ever seen. The tour entourage consisted of 105 people who would travel Australia in a chartered Boeing 727. Also accompanying ABBA were a 25-member film crew which would record all aspects of the Australian visit for cinema and television.
An arcticle about the press conference in The Canberra Times on 1 March 1977 reported some of questions and aswers as follows:
A familiar-sounding question is asked during this press conference which then featured - as audio only in a shot from the press conference in ABBA - The Movie. The question asked is, "Are you clean?" The response, "No, we are not clean, but do not take drugs" (again, as featured in ABBA - The Movie). This last question was by two girls, Tracy Wilson and her sister Jodie, who had won a competition to ask ABBA a question at the press conference and were also shown in this clip. But it is only their voices you hear in ABBA - The Movie asking their question.
