Recorded at the same time as The Best of ABBA, this performance was apparently filmed "under strict security" because the song was not due to be released until August later in 1976. It would have been very exciting for the audience to hear this brand new song. It was the last song performed on its day of filming and they performed it a couple of times. It was filmed for future broadcast on music show Bandstand.
It was not included in The Best of ABBA shown in Australia, but it was included in ABBA in Australia distributed internationally and broadcast later in the year.
Top of the Pops in the UK licensed it from Channel 9 and it was shown on the programme alternating between the official Dancing Queen PROMO, especially once the song dug its heels in at the number one slot to give the audience a bit of variety. The BBC's database still shows that the clip originates from Top of the Pops and licence it as their own copyright which is incorrect (should be Channel 9).
Release information
I strongly suspect the filming of these songs from The Best of ABBA,: I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, Rock Me, Honey Honey and Fernando were filmed on the same day as this Dancing Queen performance as Agnetha's eyes look very different in these performances to the other ones (more blue eyeshadow!).
