The PROMOS for SOS, Bang-A-Boomerang, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do and Mamma Mia were directed by Lasse Hallström at a combined cost of less than 50,000 Swedish Kronor. These were the four songs that were felt to have the strongest hit potential from the ABBA album and filmed with a view to promote it.
Bang-A-Boomerang was filmed at the same time as the island bits for SOS on a windy, blustery Spring day in Stockholm. The promo is full of hair blowing in the wind. It's also full of wonderful, happy smiles which makes it probably ABBA's most joyous promo film.
The promo film is fast-moving with lot of close-ups of their faces in profile and the occasional face-to-face shot of the two couples - the kind of thing that would become known for in their promo films. Interspersed throughout the promo are cartoon stills including images of Superman and lots of 'Bangs', 'Pows', 'Crashes' and 'Booms'!
This is one of only three times (that we can find) where Björn wore his leopard-skin cape - the others being the performances of Rock Me on Chasons à la Carte and The Eddy-Go Round Show Special.
It was re-edited for the More ABBA Gold video 1993 and is available on the DVD ABBA - The Definitive Collection amongst other official releases.
Frida fluffing her lines (and knowing it) over "never use it as a selfish tool"
