Very short news report on this news and current affairs programme, on ABBA's Irish leg of their North American and European tour including footage their helicopter arriving; ABBA getting on a coach to travel to Dublin city centre; arriving at the Gresham where they stayed and Frida receiving a birthday cake for Frida's 34th birthday which coincided with the Dublin concert; footage of their rehersal at the RDS and a vox pop with several fans and making them sing an ABBA song .
It was then followed by a fairly insulting interview interview with Bjorn and Benny with reporter Gerry Kelly.
One Irish fan remembers seeing footage of the group's arrival at Dublin airport with Thomas Johansson, Lena Kallersjo and John Spalding and in fact more footage does exist. Based on the original archive paperwork, there is over 10 minutes of rushes consisting of ABBA arriving on an Aer Lingus jet, more of the helicopter, more ABBA on the coach, fans outside their hotel, more rehersal footage (although most of it is mute) and more vox pops.
The rushes were filed away as stock footage in 1979 for potential future use and it is quite feasible that they were used by UTV at some later point. Unfortunately, the archive paperwork doesn't indicate anyone accessing the rushes but, then, it often doesn't.
The footage is available for licensing.
Both Björn and Benny's reaction to the accusation of too much "similarity" in their work.

Huge thanks to Ken Griffin.
