Popafton = Pop Evening
According to a Finnish book, Live in Finland by Mikael Huhtamäki, there is a chapter about ABBA's concert in Finland and also about the different members' visits there. The west coast area in Finland is mainly Swedish speaking (Swedish is the second official language in Finland) – so even today many, even smaller Swedish artists play concerts in that area.
In Remko van Drongelen's excellent book Frida Beyond ABBA, he lists that Frida performed at Jakobstad and Närpes (Pietarsaari and Närpiö in Finnish). According to the Live in Finland book Frida also played a gig in Helsinki on the 19 November 1967. The place was Rakennusmestarien talo (Master Builders' House). On page 100 of Frida Beyond ABBA, Frida took part in the recording of a TV show for Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company) on that date (19 November 1967).
Popafton was in Swedish. Frida's accompaniment in the tv-show was probably by Börje Forssell (saxophone) and Kari Fall (he had a jazz band in the sixties) as they also played the gig with her later the same day.
The author of Live in Finland has interviewed the director of the TV-show Pehr Snellman, so some of the information came from him.
The programme does not appear in the Finnish TV archives unfortunately.
